Points to check
Does the model of the power on target client specified in the poncli command support the Wakeup On LAN feature?
In case the power on target client specified in the poncli command supports the Wakeup On LAN feature, is it also displayed in the BIOS window?
Have the network device settings been configured in the power on target client specified in the poncli command, so that the broadcast packet can reach it? (This will be required if you try to power on a client on another subnet.)
You can execute the ping command in the command prompt window on the server that executes the commands to check whether the broadcast packet can reach the client . If there is no response, the broadcast packet cannot reach the client.
In the example below, the destination IP address is "10.90.100.100", and the destination subnet mask is "255.255.255.0":
ping 10.90.100.255
Cause
The packet that performs the power on may not have reached the client specified in the poncli command.
Action method
The function to power on the client remotely can be used only for models that support the Wakeup On LAN feature.
If the model of the client specified in the poncli command supports the Wakeup on LAN feature, enable it in the BIOS window.
To power on a client on another subnet, configure the network device settings so that the broadcast packet can reach the client for power on target terminal networks from the server.
Refer to the manual of the network device you are using for information on how to configure the network device settings.
Information
The poncli command sends the submit instruction (the Wakeup on LAN packet) to the network to which the target client belongs, and then returns immediately.
To wait until the system starts up after powering on, specify the /wt parameter.
Refer to the following manual for information on the commands:
