To use WebAdmin with multiple Symfoware Server versions in a multi-version installation environment, ensure that the "Requirements for supporting the use of WebAdmin in a multi-version installation environment" are matched.
If the requirements are not matched, perform the steps described in "How to support WebAdmin in a multi-version installation environment", and then create the instance in the multi-version installation environment.
Requirements for supporting the use of WebAdmin in a multi-version installation environment
Symfoware Server is upgraded after the instance was created using WebAdmin, and
The Symfoware Server version installed as the multi-version installation is the one before the upgrade mentioned in item 1, and
WebAdmin is used in the Symfoware Server multi-version installation environment mentioned in item 2, and
The steps described in "How to support WebAdmin in a multi-version installation environment" are not performed for the instance mentioned in item 1.
How to support WebAdmin in a multi-version installation environment
Perform this procedure in the Symfoware Server environment (the environment in item 1 above) after upgrading.
Stop the existing instance.
If the WebAdmin instance created before the upgrade is running, then stop it.
Modify the settings information.
Change the following parameters in the "postgresql.conf" parameter file:
log_directory
core_directory
syslog_ident
Delete the "symfo_@@@@_XX_YY" part, and modify the name so that it is unique in the server.
Pre-upgrade version and level: Symfoware Server V12.1.0 Enterprise Edition 64-bit
User name: symfo
Instance name: inst1
Unique name: package1
[log_directory][core_directory]
Before: /var/tmp/symfo_1210_SE_64/symfo_inst1/log
After: /var/tmp/symfo_package1/symfo_inst1/log
[syslog_ident]
Before: symfo_1210_SE_64_symfo_inst1
After: symfo_package1_symfo_inst1
Create the directories for resource deployment using the modified name.
If the directory specified in "log_directory" and "core_directory" does not exist, create it.
Additionally, the directory access privileges must meet the following requirements:
The directory owner is the OS user account that will become the instance administrator.
There are permissions to write to the directory.
The directory is empty.
Start the instance
Start the instance stopped in step 1.
Note
If operations management middleware (for example, Systemwalker Centric Manager) is used to monitor instance ID information for the service name or server log, modify the operations management middleware settings together with these changes. If multiple methods were specified for the same table combination, the method specified last will be effective.
