This section explains how to design tenants, users, L-Platforms, and servers when linked to ServerView Resource Orchestrator. Also refer to ServerView Resource Orchestrator Cloud Edition Design Guide for information on design.
By linking to ServerView Resource Orchestrator, patches, software parameters, and software configuration information can be managed for servers that are managed by Systemwalker Software Configuration Manager.
L-Platform/server categories
The L-Platforms and servers of Systemwalker Software Configuration Manager are categorized into two types:
ServerView Resource Orchestrator-managed L-Platforms and servers
This refers to L-Platforms and servers within L-Platforms that are managed by ServerView Resource Orchestrator.
ServerView Resource Orchestrator-managed L-Platforms and servers within L-Platforms are automatically targeted for management by Systemwalker Software Configuration Manager. L-Platforms and servers within L-Platforms that are created using ServerView Resource Orchestrator before installing Systemwalker Software Configuration Manager will also become automatically targeted for management by Systemwalker Software Configuration Manager following installation.
Non ServerView Resource Orchestrator-managed L-Platforms and servers
This refers to L-Platforms and servers within L-Platforms that are not managed by ServerView Resource Orchestrator (for example, admin servers cannot be managed by ServerView Resource Orchestrator - if these servers are to be targeted for management by Systemwalker Software Configuration Manager, they will be registered as non ServerView Resource Orchestrator-managed servers).
Non ServerView Resource Orchestrator-managed L-Platforms are used when grouping non ServerView Resource Orchestrator-managed servers.

If linked to ServerView Resource Orchestrator, it is possible for a ServerView Resource Orchestrator-managed L-Platform and non ServerView Resource Orchestrator-managed L-Platform to belong within the same tenant.
Decide on the configuration of tenants and L-platforms according to the following:
Points to note when deciding on the configuration of L-Platforms
A non ServerView Resource Orchestrator-managed server cannot belong to a ServerView Resource Orchestrator-managed L-Platform.
A ServerView Resource Orchestrator-managed server cannot belong to a non ServerView Resource Orchestrator-managed L-Platform.
