C.10.11 Overcommit

This section explains the overcommit function for L-Servers.

Overcommit

The OVM for x86 3.2 overcommit function for the CPU and memory is available on Resource Orchestrator.

The OVM for x86 3.2 overcommit function for the CPU and memory virtually allows a guest OS to use more resources than that of the actual CPU and memory of a server.

Resource Orchestrator provides the following functions to utilize the OVM for x86 3.2 overcommit function when creating L-Servers.

Installation Procedure

  1. Create a VM Pool for Overcommit

For details on how to create a VM pool, refer to "Chapter 20 Resource Pool Operations" in the "User's Guide for Infrastructure Administrators (Resource Management) CE".

    Point

Refer to the "Point" described in "1. Create a VM Pool for Overcommit" in "Installation Procedure" in "C.2.11 Overcommit".

    Note

Refer to the "Note" described in "1. Create a VM Pool for Overcommit" in "Installation Procedure" in "C.2.11 Overcommit".

For details on how to edit the L-Server template, or create and check an L-Server, perform the operations of step 3 and later described in "C.2.11 Overcommit". The values that can be configured in the L-Server template or the VM specific information definition files as described in the reference differ depending on the VM types. In OVM for x86 3.2, the values can only be specified when configuring overcommit in the L-Server template.
