For virtual environment, there are some notes as shown below:
When registering a guest OS on VMware in the Management Server, register the VMware host.
The guest OS is automatically registered by registering the VMware host in the server. The VMware host should be registered to Server with or without the ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser Standard Edition license.
To obtain the information of VM guest (Virtual machine and guest OS), install VMware Tools on guest OS. For the specification of VM guest display in the ETERNUS SF system, refer to [Note] of "VMware Infrastructure 3 Version 3.5 (or later), VMware vSphere 4 (or later) or VMware ESXi 3.5 (or later)" in "Environment Configuration" in the ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser Operation Guide.
After registering the guest OS on VMware in the Management Server, change the following server information in the server screen of the Web Console with respect to the registered guest OS:
Select [Yes] in the [Use AdvancedCopy Manager] field.
Before registering the VMware host to Server, perform the following operations with respect to the Mailbox server on the guest OS:
Check whether the IP address assigned to the largest number network adapter of valid network adapters defined for VM guests is the IP address of the management LAN.
If it is not the IP address of the management LAN, edit the VM guest settings to add an Ethernet adapter and specify the IP address of the management LAN for the largest number network adapter. Take the following procedure:
Login to the VMware host on the VM client.
Select a target VM guest.
Select [Edit virtual machine settings].
Select [Add...] on the [Hardware] tab.
Select [Ethernet Adapter]. (e.g. Type: E1000, Label: VM Network)
Login to the VM guest and specify the IP address of management LAN for added NIC.
Note
The above procedure is required not only when registering the initial VMware host server but also when network configuration is changed during operation (required also immediately before executing "Reload the server configuration information").
In addition, if any change is made in server configuration in a virtual environment, it is required to execute "Reload the server configuration information" to the VMware host.
To use the backup wizard after starting to use AdvancedCopy Manager in an environment in which the ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser Standard Edition license is not registered, the following procedure is required to migrate the server registered environment:
As for a VMware guest registered as a physical server, use the resource backup function of AdvancedCopyvManager to back up the AdvancedCopy Manager definitions(backup operation, replication operation).
Refer to "11.1.1.1.1 Backing up a backup management list and recovery control file" for how to back up resources for backup operation. Refer to "11.1.1.2.1 Backing up a replication management list" for how to back up resources for replication operation.
Delete the AdvancedCopy Manager definitions(backup operation, replication operation).
To delete the definition of backup operation, use steps 1 to 3 in "3.6.4 Deleting the Managed Server". To delete the definition of replication operation, perform "7.6.2 Deleting a source volume or replica volume" for all the registered copy source/destination volumes.
Delete all the VMware guests registered as physical servers onto the Management Server.
Register the VMware host to Server.
Select an automatically discovered VMware guest by clicking [Yes] in [Use AdvancedCopy Manager] on the Modify Server window.
Fetch the device information on a Managed Server.
Refer to "7.4.4 Fetching device information on a Managed Server" for how to fetch the device information.
Use the resource restore function of AdvancedCopy Manager to restore the resources backed up in step 1.
Refer to "11.1.1.1.2 Restoring a backup management list and recovery control file" for how to restore resources for backup operation. Refer to "11.1.1.2.2 Restoring a replication management list" for how to restore resources for replication operation.
Do the following before registering the VMware host in the server when you operate DAG of Exchange Server in the VM guest environment.
The procedure for the single network adaptor environment is shown below.
Allocate the network adaptor to the VM guest newly.
Set IP address for DAG and IP address for the management of the VM guest to separate network adaptors. Allocate the IP address for the management of the VM Guest to the highest numbered adaptor.
The procedure for the two or more network adaptor environment is shown below.
Set IP address for DAG and IP address for the management of the VM guest to separate network adaptors. Allocate the IP address for the management of the VM Guest to the highest numbered adaptor.
IP address displayed on the server screen of the Web Console is IP address allocated in the network adaptor of the biggest number among effective network adaptors being defined by the VM guest. IP address for DAG might be displayed in IP address of the VM guest displayed to compose DAG. In that case, add a new network adaptor to the VM guest, and set IP address for the management of the VM guest to the added network adaptor again. On the Web Console, execute [Reload Conf.] to update to the latest information.
