9.1.2 Changing the operating environment


9.1.2.1 Changing the IP address of the Management Server

Follow the procedure given below to change the IP address of the Management Server.

  1. Change the system IP address on the Management Server.

  2. Reboot the Management Server.

Point

  • If the Management Server is operated in cluster environment, refer to "Changing the IP address for Management Server transactions" in the ETERNUS SF Cluster Environment Setup Guide.

  • If SNMP Trap monitors device errors, you need to change the SNMP Trap transmission place. Execute the command which is for changing the SNMP Trap transmission place IP address. Refer to the "Chapter 11 Command References" for further details of the command.


9.1.2.2 Changing the IP address of a server node (host)

Follow the procedure given below to change the IP address of a server node.

9.1.2.3 Changing the server name of the Management Server

No special work is required.


9.1.2.4 Changing the name of a server node (host)

Follow the procedure given below to change the name of a server node.

Note

Information of an associated application element created in the Correlation window is not inherited when the server node name is changed. Register the application element again.


9.1.2.5 Changing the IP address or the SNMP community name of a supported device

To change the IP address of a device with support level A or B registered with this software or to change the SNMP community name, follow the procedure below:

To change the IP address

If the device is an ETERNUS Disk storage system, first change the IP address on the device side, and then change the IP address for the device in the Web Console. If the device is something other than an ETERNUS Disk storage system, first change the IP address on the device side, then temporarily delete the device in Web Console, and lastly, using the changed IP address, re-register the device.

Note

  • If the IP address is changed for a device where performance management is performed, then follow the procedure below to reflect the new IP address. Refer to "7.2.9 Updating configuration information" for details on the procedure.

    1. Configure the performance monitoring.

    2. Configure the threshold value monitoring (if threshold value monitoring is performed).

    3. Stop threshold value monitoring (if threshold value monitoring is performed).

    4. Stop performance monitoring.

    5. On the Web Console, change the IP address of the target device.

    6. Refer to "A.10 Explanation of the Configuration Settings File" for changing the file name (if Fibre Channel switch configuration information is customized).

    7. Create a configuration file.

    8. Start performance monitoring based on the settings specified in step 1.

    9. Start threshold value monitoring based on the settings specified in step 2 (if threshold value monitoring is performed).

  • If the IP address is included in the device management software calling information, modify that information also to match the changes made.

Point

If the SNMP community name of a device is other than "public"

When the SNMP community name of the device has been changed to something other than "public" and its IP address is changed, set a new IP address for the SNMP community name before detecting any device using a new IP address. For the setting, refer to "SNMP_COMMUNITY_NAME_FOR_IP" in "A.2 sanma.conf Parameter", and reflect the contents of the setting file on this software.


To change the SNMP community name

  1. Set the community name of each target device.

    Refer to "Chapter 4 Environment Configuration" for information on the community name of each target device.

  2. Set up the Management Server.

    If the device is an ETERNUS Disk storage system, change the SNMP community name for the device in the Web Console. If the device is something besides an ETERNUS Disk storage system, temporarily delete the device in the Web Console and register it again using the changed SNMP community name.

Note

To change the SNMP trap community name at a Linux Manager, refer to "A.11 snmptrapd.conf Configuration File" and also change the snmptrapd.conf settings.


9.1.2.6 Changing the operation management of the clustered system (node name takeover)

In the environment of a clustered system operation, Node name inheritance may be used for Inherit network setting. Node name takeover affects the Name of a Server node.

In changing the Name of a Server node by setting Node name inheritance, refer to "9.1.2.4 Changing the name of a server node (host)".


9.1.2.7 Changing the configuration of supported devices

For changing the device configuration

If you have upgraded firmware to supported devices, added or removed hardware to/from supported devices, or added/deleted/changed the configuration within the supported devices (in the case of a disk storage system, its RAID Group, LogicalVolume, etc.), perform the following actions.

For applying Model upgrade options for ETERNUS Disk storage system

The device configuration is changed when applying Model upgrade options for ETERNUS Disk storage system.

When using the performance management function, update the configuration information of the performance management function in reference to "7.2.9 Updating configuration information" after performing the procedure above.

9.1.2.8 Changing the password of supported devices

Follow the procedure given below to change the password of a device which is been registered to this software.

Change the information registered in this software by referring to "User name and password" of "Changing environment" in "4.1.8.2 VMware Infrastructure 3 Version 3.5 (or later), VMware vSphere 4 (or later) or VMware ESXi 3.5 (or later)".

Change the account information for management of the device in the Web Console.

Except for the devices described above, there is no necessary to do any deal with this software when change the device's password.
