6.3.1 Preparing for the upgrade

The operational environment must be prepared prior to upgrading the AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module, as described below.

6.3.1.1 Selecting the install program

There are two methods of performing the upgrade for the AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module, as follows:

Point

For Method 1, in addition to the command line interface, it is also possible to perform the AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module operations from the Web Console. However, this approach has the following drawbacks:

  • The disk space required for installation is greater than that for Method 2.

  • There are more incompatible software issues when compared to Method 2.

  • Checking Symfoware will be necessary (only if Symfoware is installed on the server for which this operation is being performed).

  • Estimating the database size estimation will be necessary.

Using the information provided above, select the appropriate program to install.

6.3.1.2 Backing up the environment setting files

Back up the operational environment for the previous version.

See

Refer to "A.6 Backing up the the environment setting files" for information on the backup method.

License information

When AdvancedCopy Manager and/or AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module are installed, back up the definition of the license information.

Back up the license management database of ETERNUS SF License Manager by executing the esflm backup command. Refer to the ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager Installation and Setup Guide for the previous version for information on the command.

Example of executing the command is shown below. The file specified with backupFileName will be created as a backup file.

> esflm backup backupFileName
Backup of license database was performed successfully

6.3.1.3 Checking for available disk space

Ensure that there is enough available disk space on the server where the Upgrade Installation will be performed.
The required disk space for the upgrade is calculated as the "Required disk space for the new version to be installed" minus the "Required disk space of the previous version".

Required disk space for the new version

The space required to install this version of the ETERNUS SF Manager or AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module. Refer to the following locations in the ETERNUS SF Installation and Setup Guide for this version for information on the required disk space.

  • For using the AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module in ETERNUS SF Manager:

"Operating environment of ETERNUS SF Manager"

  • For installing the AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module:

"Operating environment of AdvancedCopy Manager CCM"

Required disk space for the previous version

The space required to install this version of the AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module of the previous version.
Refer to "Operating Environment" in the ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager Operator's Guide for Copy Control Module for the relevant previous version for information on the required disk space.

6.3.1.4 Uninstalling incompatible software

Check if any incompatible software for AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module of this version is installed on the server where the upgrade will be performed.
If incompatible software is found, refer to the relevant software manual and uninstall it before starting the upgrade.

See

Refer to "Operating Environment" in the ETERNUS SF Installation and Setup Guide for this version for information on the incompatible software.

6.3.1.5 Checking Symfoware

The Symfoware product is bundled with the ETERNUS SF Manager. If the two following conditions are met, check the Symfoware environment before starting the upgrade.

See

Refer to "Before installation" in "Installation of ETERNUS SF Manager" in the ETERNUS SF Installation and Setup Guide for this version for details.

6.3.1.6 Estimating the database size

For installing the ETERNUS SF Manager, a database is necessary.
The database size must be estimated before starting the upgrade.

See

Refer to "Before installation" in "Installation of ETERNUS SF Manager" in the ETERNUS SF Installation and Setup Guide for this version for details.
