ETERNUS

2.2.5 Required resources for operation (for Solaris)

2.2.5.1 Required disk space for operation

For operating ETERNUS SF Manager, in addition to disk space described in "2.2.3.1 Required disk space for installation", the server on which it is installed must have free disk space as described below.

For operation as Storage Cruiser's manager

Directory name

Required disk space
(Unit: MB)

Explanation

/etc/opt/FJSVssmgr

5 + 1(*1) + 1.2(*2) + 65(*3)

*1: Configuration definition file
*2: Database (co-operation with middleware)
*3: Database capacity of the repository for Manager

- Calculated assuming a maximum of a 100 products.

/var/opt/FJSVssmgr

1055 + 35(*4) + 20(*5) + a

a : Repository for Storage Cruiser
- The database requirement is calculated for 1000 registered servers and two devices for each server.
(12KB * the number of registered servers + 4KB * the number of registered devices)
*4: Log
*5: Database

/var/opt/FJSVesfcm

Disk space required for the license management function

Repository for Storage Cruiser

Add disk space as described below, depending on the numbers of storage devices, server nodes and switches to be managed.

Required size (MB) = 1 + devicesToBeManaged * 4

Add the total of disk space as described below to the above disk space, depending on the numbers of storage devices to be managed.

  • For ETERNUS DX80 S2/DX90 S2 (The firmware version is V10L40 or later):

    Required size (MB) = devicesToBeManaged * 4
  • For ETERNUS DX400 S2 series (The firmware version is V10L40 or later):

    Required size (MB) = devicesToBeManaged * 6
  • For ETERNUS DX8000 S2 series (The firmware version is V10L40 or later):

    Required size (MB) = devicesToBeManaged * 23
  • For other than the above:

    Required size (MB) = 0

Additionally, for performing the performance management, disk space is necessary depending on the number of devices from which to collect performance data and the number of days for which performance data are to be stored.

Refer to "Appendix C Required Disk Space for Performance Management" for details.

Estimation formula for the repository size for common control
Required size (MB) = 300 + (servers + switches + devicesToBeManaged + disks + RAIDGroups + volumes) / 100 + (servers + switches + devicesToBeManaged) * users / 500
  • servers : The number of Managed Servers

  • switches : The number of managed switches

  • devicesToBeManaged : The number of managed ETERNUS Disk storage systems

  • disks : The total number of disks in each managed ETERNUS Disk storage system

  • RAIDGroups : The number of managed RAID groups

  • volumes : The number of managed volumes

  • users : The number of users using Web Console (The number of user accounts)

For operation as AdvancedCopy Manager's manager

Directory name

Required disk space
(Unit: MB)

Explanation

/etc/opt

For performing the backup operation:

(a + 35 * b) / 1024 + 0.4

Add required disk space depending on your operation.

a: Number of backup volumes
b: Number of transaction volumes
c: Number of volume pairs for replication management

For performing the replication operation:

(1.1 * c) / 1024 + 0.4

/var

1106

-

/var/opt

  • For non-clustered systems:
    13 + e + f + 20(*1)

  • For clustered systems:
    26 + 4 * d + e + f + 20(*1)

d: Number of transactions (including local transactions)
e: Database capacity of the repository. Refer to "3.1.4 Estimation of database size" for details.
f: Repository size for common control. Refer to "Estimation formula for the repository size for common control" for details.
*1: Disk space required for the license management function

2.2.5.2 Required memory for operation

For operating ETERNUS SF Manager, the server on which it is installed must add the following amount of memory.
