PRIMECLUSTER GLS for Windows User's Guide 4.3

3.4.2 Preliminary Tasks: Physical Adapter Settings

In order to set and use GLS correctly, you must make the settings for the physical adapters before bundling them into virtual adapters. If you are going to use the VLAN tagging function of a physical adapter, please create the VLAN tagging adapter of the physical adapter beforehand, and then make the following settings for the newly created adapter.

The procedure is as follows:

  1. Enable all network adapters that will form part of virtual adapters.

To do this, double-click [Network Connections] in the [Control Panel]. In the [Network Connections] window, right-click any disabled network adapter and click [Enable].

  2. In the [Properties] window, select the following check box:

    • For Windows Server 2003 R2:

      Check [Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)].

    • For Windows Server 2008 or later operating systems:

Check [Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)] or [Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)].

If you checked [Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)]:

If you checked [Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)]:

    Note

If the communication by VLAN tagging with GLS is not available in Windows Server 2008 or later operating systems, you must disable the VLAN tagging function. If the communication by VLAN tagging is available, you can keep the VLAN tagging function of the physical adapters enabled.
