PRIMECLUSTER GLS for Windows User's Guide 4.3

2.2.2 Switch Function

When the GLS monitor function detects a failure in a transmission path, the switch function automatically switches the operational adapter and continues communication.

Switching

If a failure that causes a linkdown occurs in an adapter or network device, GLS disconnects the relevant physical adapter, and switches operations to the standby physical adapter. If a failure that does not cause a linkdown occurs in a network device, GLS switches operations to another route after the failure is detected by the ping monitor function.

Note that, if a failure occurs in every physical adapter, all communication is ended.

Point

If you set your destination systems as ping monitor targets, you can also monitor transmissions to those systems. You can also set ping monitoring so that users are merely notified of any failures on the transmission path by error messages, whereas adapters will not be switched. For more details, refer to "6.2.4 hanetpoll."

Switch Time

When a failure is detected, it takes one or two seconds to switch the operational transmission path.
When the ping monitor function detects a communication failure, it takes 15 seconds (the default value) to switch the operational transmission path. You can change this value. For more details, refer to "6.2.4.4 param."
