Chapter 2 : Setting the Operating Environment | > 2.3 Connecting Disks to Each Server |
The following procedure explains how to connect the disk devices to an HP-UX system.
Connect the SCSI card or Fibre Channel card to the server.
Connect the SCSI card or Fibre Channel, which has just been connected to the server, to the disk array device (Fibre Channel switch/hub) with a cable.
Follow the instruction of the installation guide that came with the SCSI card or Fibre Channel card and install the SCSI/FC driver.
Information must be added to the system configuration file in the fabric environment. For more details on this setup, refer to the instructions that came with the Fibre Channel card or Fibre Channel switch.
Reboot the system in order for the installed SCSI/FC driver and disks in the disk array device to be recognized by the system.
# sync # reboot |
Use the ioscan command to check if the disk array device disk configured for the HP-UX is being recognized properly.
# ioscan -funC disk Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description ===================================================================== disk 0 0/4/1/0.0.0.0.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP IR Volume /dev/dsk/c0t0d0 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0 /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s1 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s1 /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s2 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s2 /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s3 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s3 disk 146 0/7/1/0.1.13.0.0.0.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE FUJITSU ETERNUS_DX8000 /dev/dsk/c5t0d0 /dev/rdsk/c5t0d0 disk 147 0/7/1/0.1.13.0.0.0.1 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE FUJITSU ETERNUS_DX8000 /dev/dsk/c5t0d1 /dev/rdsk/c5t0d1 disk 148 0/7/1/0.1.13.0.0.0.2 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE FUJITSU ETERNUS_DX8000 /dev/dsk/c5t0d2 /dev/rdsk/c5t0d2 disk 4 0/7/1/1.1.1.0.0.0.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE FUJITSU ETERNUS_DX8000 /dev/dsk/c3t0d0 /dev/rdsk/c3t0d0 disk 5 0/7/1/1.1.1.0.0.0.1 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE FUJITSU ETERNUS_DX8000 /dev/dsk/c3t0d1 /dev/rdsk/c3t0d1 disk 6 0/7/1/1.1.1.0.0.0.2 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE FUJITSU ETERNUS_DX8000 /dev/dsk/c3t0d2 /dev/rdsk/c3t0d2 disk 2 255/1/0.0.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE TEAC DV-28E-N /dev/dsk/c1t0d0 /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0 |
Make sure that the target-id and logical unit numbers in the displayed device file (/dev/dsk/cxtxdx) matches the information set in the disk array device.
This completes the connection of the disk array device.
Do not create a file system on the disk used as the data transfer volume.
