11.1.1 Notes on Installation

11.1.1.1 User Account for Installation

Log on as the user with the Administrator's authority on the system for the AdvancedCopy Manager installation.

11.1.1.2 Installation in BDC

When installing the AdvancedCopy Manager in a backup domain controller (BDC), specify an existing user. If a new user is specified, it may be impossible to install the AdvancedCopy Manager because a new account is not immediately registered.

11.1.1.3 Reinstallation

If reinstallation is required, it should be done as follows:

11.1.1.3.1 Procedure to be completed before reinstallation

When the Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager or Agent of AdvancedCopy Manager is reinstalled in the system where the Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager has been previously installed, the DB Unsetup process must be executed beforehand.

If the DB Unsetup processing has not been executed, reinstallation cannot be performed.

For details of the DB Unsetup processing, refer to "Database unsetup" in the "ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager Operator's Guide".

11.1.1.3.2 About reinstallation

If AdvancedCopy Manager has already been previously installed, it will be uninstalled.

After the older version has been uninstalled, restart the system and reinstall by issuing the install instruction for AdvancedCopy Manager.

11.1.1.4 If SystemWalker/StorageMGR has already been installed

If installing AdvancedCopy Manager on the system into which SystemWalker/StorageMGR is installed, the message "The SystemWalker/StorageMGR product has already been installed" is displayed and the attempt will abort with an error.

11.1.1.5 When SystemWalker/StorageMGR was installed previously

When installing AdvancedCopy Manager on the system on which SystemWalker/StorageMGR has been installed before, be aware that since OS remembers the former icon, the icon of [DB setup tool] is displayed as StorageMGR.

The following steps are needed in order to display the icon of AdvancedCopy Manager.

  1. [Start] -> [program] -> [AdvancedCopy Manager] of a start menu is chosen, and a right click is carried out on [DB setup].

  2. Choose [property] and click the [shortcut] tag in the dialog displayed.

  3. Click [change of icon] button and choose the icon of AdvancedCopy Manager.

  4. Click the [OK] button if correct.

11.1.1.6 Running the Software in an Environment Where the Windows Firewall Is Enabled

The firewall for the following versions of Windows (R) must be disabled or its settings must be configured by performing the following steps.

For the Storage management server

  1. Select the [Windows Firewall] window from the [Control Panel].

  2. Click the [Add Port] button on the [Exceptions] tab to open the [Add Port] dialog box.

  3. Enter the following settings for the communication service:

    • [Name]: Specify any name that you want.

    • [Port number]: Specify the port number assigned to the communication service at the time of installation, and select "TCP" for the protocol.

  4. To change the scope, specify the scope available for communication with the Storage server.

  5. Click the [OK] button in the [Add Port] dialog box.

  6. Close the [Windows Firewall] window by clicking the [OK] button.

For the Storage server

  1. Open the [Windows Firewall] window from the [Control Panel].

  2. Click the [Add Port] button on the [Exceptions] tab to open the [Add Port] dialog box.

  3. Make the following settings for the communication service:

    • [name]: Specify any name that you want.

    • [Port number]: Specify the port number assigned to the communication service at the time of installation, and select "TCP" for the protocol.

  4. To change the scope, specify the scope available for communication with the Storage management server and other Storage servers.

  5. Click the [OK] button in the [Add Port] dialog box.

  6. Close the [Windows Firewall] window by clicking the [OK] button.
