This section provides notes on restoration.
Timing of Restoration
If data on a transaction volume has been updated since the latest backup, then if a restore is performed from the backup volume, recently updated data will be lost.

Restore Priority
Restore is set up with a higher priority than backup for drive allocation and tape access. For example, if a restore command is executed while all drives are being backed up, the backup will be cancelled and the restore will start.
Before performing a restore, use the following method to check the ETERNUS tape library drive or tape usage status.
Execute11.4.7 tboreqstat (Tape execution history display command) to check the backup process that is in progress.
Check the detailed display of 11.4.8 tbohistdisp (Tape history information display command) to see on which tape the backup data of the transaction volume to be restored exists.
Check the drive or tape usage status of the ETERNUS tape library using the ETERNUS tape library panel.

If there is no space in the drive, or if the tape that you want to restore is being used by a backup, use the following procedures to secure a vacant drive and the required tape, or restore after all backup processes that are executed with commands are completed.
Use 11.4.3 tbocancelback (Tape backup cancel command) to cancel all backup processes awaiting a vacant drive.
Use 11.4.3 tbocancelback (Tape backup cancel command) to cancel a backup that is currently writing to the tape to be used by the restore.
Use 11.4.3 tbocancelback (Tape backup cancel command) to cancel a backup that is using a drive.

The restore priority order can be disabled by specifying NOPREEMPT in the TSM server option file (dsmserv.opt). If disabled, even if backup and restore command are executed at the same time, processing will be performed in the order that commands are executed.
