1.4.4 Restructuring Shunsaku System

If the environment is broken after installation because of an operating system or disk fault, the Shunsaku system (director server, search server, or sort server) can be restructured using the Shunsaku system backup data (see Note below).

If the problem cannot be solved by general actions, restructure the Shunsaku system based on backup data.

Note: Backup data consists of the following:

• Environment files.
• Director data files.
• Direct access key definition files.

Use the following procedures to restructure the Shunsaku system based on the backup data:

• Restructuring the Director Server
• Restructuring the Search Server or Sort Server

Restructuring the Director Server

Use the following procedure to restructure the director server.

1. Installing Shunsaku:
   Install the director server with a custom installation. Select all the required functions.
   To install the director server where the conductor is located, select the conductor function.

   

   Refer to the section on Shunsaku Installation in the Installation and Setup with Additional Director Servers in the Installation Guide for more information on installing the director server.

2. Restoring the Environment Files and the Definition Files:
   Restore the environment files and the direct access key definition file.

   

   Refer to Backing Up and Restoring the Shunsaku Environment Files in the Operator's Guide for more information on recovering environment files and the direct access key definition file.

3. Setting Up Director Server:
   Setup the director server.
   • Port Number Definition:
     Define the port numbers specified in the Director parameter of the system environment file in the services file.
     

     For Director Parameter:

     • The port number to issue search requests to searchers.
     • The port number to issue update requests to searchers.
     • The port number to receive requests from the conductor.

     Directory:

     

     /etc/services

     

     Windows installation folder\system32\drivers\etc\services

     Define the following port numbers in the services file:

     • The director server where the conductor is located:
       Define the port number to receive requests from the API specified in the Conductor parameter of the system environment file.
     • The director server where the searcher is located:
       Define the port number to receive requests from the director specified in the Searcher parameter of the system environment file.
     • The director server where the sorter is located:
       Define the port number to receive sort requests from the conductor specified in the Sorter parameter of the system environment file.

     

     Refer to Defining Director Port Numbers, Defining Searcher Port Numbers, Defining Sorter Port Numbers, and Creating the System Environment File in Installation Guide for more information on defining port numbers.

   • Registering Services

     Register each Shunsaku process as a service.

     • Conductor:
       Execute the shuncservice command and register the conductor with the service:.

       shuncservice -s conductor identifier -n Shunsaku system name -a

       
       

     • director:
       Execute the shundservice command and register the director with the service:.

       shundservice -s director identifier -n Shunsaku system name -a

     • searcher:
       Execute the shunsservice command and register the searcher with the service:.

       shunsservice -s searcher identifier -n Shunsaku system name -a

     • sorter:
       Execute the shunoservice command and register the sorter with the service:.

       shunoservice -s sorter identifier -n Shunsaku system name -a

   • Registering Host Names

     If the host name of the external server, rather than IP addresses, is specified in the system environment file, specify the external server IP address and host name in the following file.

     

     /etc/hosts

     

     Windows installation folder\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

     

     Refer to Registering Host Names in Installation Guide for more information on the specification format to register host names.

   • Setting Up the Operating System

     Setup the operating system.

     

     Refer to Setting Up the Operation System of the director server in the Installation Guide for more information on setting up the operating system.

4. Restoring the Director Data Files and the Operation Log Files:
   Restore the director data files and the operation logs files if they are corrupt..

   

   • Shunsaku must be active to recover the director data files and operation log files.
   • If the directory specified to store the director data files and the operation log files does not exist, create it before starting Shunsaku.

   

   Refer to Backup and Recovery in the Operator's Guide for more information on recovering director data files and operation log files.

5. Adding Admin Server GUI Function
   Add the Admin Server GUI Function if the Management Console is used, However, the Management Console can only be used for system that operate with a single server.

   

   Refer to Admin Server GUI Function Installation and Setup in the Operator's Guide for more information on how to add the Admin Server GUI Function.

   

   Set the following contents again after starting the Management Console:.

   • The backup destination of the environment file
   • The backup destination of the director data

Restructuring the Search Server and Sort Server

Use the following procedure to restructure the search server and sort server:

1. Installing Shunsaku:
   Install the search server and sort server.

   

   Refer to Installing Shunsaku on Search Servers in the Installation Guide for more information on installing the search server.
   Refer to Shunsaku Installation of the Installation and Setup with Additional Sort Servers in the Installation Guide for more information on installing the sort server.

2. Restoring Environment File:
   Restore the environment files of the search server and sort server.

   

   Refer to Backing up and Restoring the Shunsaku Environment Files in the Operator's Guide for more information on environment file recovery.

3. Setting up Search Server or Sort Server:
   Setup the search server or the sort server.
   • Define the Port Numbers

     Define the port numbers specified in the Searcher parameter or sorter parameter of the system environment files in the services file.

     Searcher Parameter (for search server):

     • The port number to receive requests for the director.

     Sorter Parameter (for sort server):

     • The port number to receive sort requests from the conductor.

     Windows installation folder\system32\drivers\etc\services

     

     Refer to Defining Searcher Port Numbers or Defining Sorter Port Number in the Installation Guide for more information on Port Number Definition.

   • Register Services:
     Register the searcher and the sorter with the service.

     For the search server:

     Execute the shunsservice command to register the searcher with the service:

     shunsservice -s searcher identifier -n Shunsaku system name -a

     For the sort server:

     Execute the shunoservice command to register the sorter with the service:

     shunoservice -s sorter identifier -n Shunsaku system name -a

   • Register Host Names:
     If the host names, rather than the IP addresses, are specified in the system environment file by the director server, specify the director server IP address and host name in the following file:

     

     /etc/hosts

     

     Windows installation folder\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

   • Set Up the Operating System:
     Setup the operating system of the search server and the sort server.

     

     Refer to Setting up the Operation system of each server in the Installation Guide for more information on setting up the operating system.
