Part 2 Installation (Basic)> Chapter 6 Linkage Products and Other Supplementary Notes

6.3 Linking with Systemwalker Centric Manager

If linkage is to be established with Systemwalker Centric Manager, consider the following points during design and installation.

Refer to the Systemwalker Centric Manager manual for details.

6.3.1 Monitoring Thresholds

If threshold monitoring results in a threshold violation being detected, a message reporting the occurrence of an error at the relevant node will appear in the Systemwalker Centric Manager monitoring window. (The icon of the node will indicate the event by flashing, etc.)

With regard to the monitoring of resource information thresholds within servers, the managed node recognized in the monitoring window of Systemwalker Centric Manager will match the object managed by ETERNUS SF Disk Space Monitor.

If Event log/syslog is selected as the threshold violation notification method during installation, it will be necessary to define Centric Manager as the type of alarm action to execute. Refer to Section 10.2, "Alarm Action Definitions" for details on the definition method.

To monitor threshold violations detected by ETERNUS SF Disk Space Monitor in Centric Manager's System Monitor window, the following settings must be performed.

  1. Register the type of event to be monitored.
  1. Start Centric Manager's System Monitor window or the Systemwalker Console.
  2. From the Policy menu, select Setting Policy followed by Event Monitoring Operation Setup or Event Monitoring Operating Environment followed by All.
  3. The Event Monitoring Operating Environment Setup (All) dialog box will appear. Add "SSQC" (in upper-case characters) as the monitored event type.

Once the above settings have been entered, a threshold violation in ETERNUS SF Disk Space Monitor will cause an event of type "SSQC" to be reported to Centric Manager.

Depending on Centric Manager's monitoring event settings, the SSQC event type may be changed to "Other", etc., and displayed in the System Monitor window or the Systemwalker Console.

To monitor SSQC events separately, it is necessary to enter the following additional settings.

  1. Register or amend the monitored events.
    1. Start Centric Manager's System Monitor window or the Systemwalker Console.
    2. Select Define Action from the Event menu.
    3. Use the Monitored Event Table window to register or amend the monitored events so that SSQC events can be detected. When doing so, also specify the action execution conditions and the event action definitions, etc., as necessary.

Refer to the Systemwalker Centric Manager manual for details.

6.3.2 Linking to the Monitor view from Centric Manager

To call ETERNUS SF Disk Space Monitor's Monitor view from Systemwalker Centric Manager's System Monitor window, it is necessary to register ETERNUS SF Disk Space Monitor's Monitor view with the menu of Systemwalker Centric Manager's System Monitor window. Refer to Section 7.5.1, "Invoking the Monitor view" for details on how to call the Monitor view.
