This section gives an overview of Recovery Manager for Oracle.
Recovery Manager for Oracle provides an online disk-to-disk backup operation for the Oracle database, and a simplified recovery function through screen operation.
Recovery Manager for Oracle provides the following functions:
The backup of the database can be obtained without terminating the database. The following features can be utilized:
The online backup function quickly checks whether all database files (control files, data files, and online redo log files) are normal, before obtaining the backup of the database.
Data files can be backed up using one of the two following methods:
Oracle Recovery Manager (hereafter referred to as "RMAN") generates the backup sets.
The One Point Copy (hereafter referred to as "OPC") or equivalent copy (hereafter referred to as "EC") function of the ETERNUS3000/6000 or ETERNUS GR Series storage system backs up the database at high speed.
Note: EC supports the suspend/resume functions only.
RMAN generates the backup set.
RMAN generates the backup set.
The feature deletes archived redo log files when the files have exceeded the number of generations being managed.
This feature waits for completion of the OPC physical copy to execute in the background.
The following features are provided by the recovery function. They are operated through the GUI screen.
Confirms the status of database file damage (control files, data files, online redo log files).
Automatically determines and executes the restore and recover function according to the status of database damage.
Restores control files and all data files, and executes the recovery operation.
Executes the recovery operation for the files selected on-screen.
Note: This data recovery function is suited to advanced users.
This section explains the different operating modes of Recovery Manager for Oracle.
Recovery Manager for Oracle supports the following database operation forms:
RMfO: Recovery Manager for Oracle
Only the Active/Passive Cluster Environment and the Active/Active Cluster Environment are supported in cluster operation (HA).
There must be one standby node for each active node.
Setting multiple standby nodes for an active node, or transporting the standby node, is not supported (i.e. the cascade or the transport standby are not supported).
In Recovery Manager for Oracle 13.0, the RAC system is comprised of between 2 and 4 nodes.
