2.7 Statistical Information on the File System

Generally speaking, file system performance can be greatly improved by proper tuning.

The GFS Local File System supports multi-partition and extent-based management that can improve the performance of conventional file systems significantly. In order to use these functions more effectively, the user can collect statistical information on the file system and tune the system based on this information.
