2.6 Unique Meta-data Cache Management
The GFS Local File System performs a unique cache management for the meta-data part in the memory. Conventionally, all parts of meta-data have been processed centrally during cache management. In the GFS Local File System, however, the i-node, directory block, and indirect block areas on the disk are managed separately depending on access characteristics. This management approach improves the cache-hit ratio and reduces the amount of used resources.
