B.2.2 Java console

Take the following steps to collect the Java consol on the client. Note that collecting method varies depending on the client or connected URL types.

Java console display

Collect the Java console of Java Plug-in. Display it by taking the following steps.

In case of PC client with Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition v1.3.1

  1. The following icons in the taskbar are double-clicked.

In case of PC client with Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition v1.4.2

  1. The following icons in the taskbar are double-clicked.

In case of Solaris OE

  1. Exit the browser.
  2. Display the Java Plug-in control panel by executing the following command:

    # <Netscape dir>/j2pi/ControlPanel

    <Netscape dir>: Specify the Netscape installation directory.

    For Solaris 7 OE, the directory is default "/opt/NSCPcom," and for Solaris 8 OE, the directory is default "/usr/dt/appconfig/netscape."

  3. Click the [Java Plug-in control panel]-[Base] tab, and then select [Java console display].
  4. Click <Apply> and then close [Java Plug-in control panel].
  5. Start the browser.

In case of Solaris OE with Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition v1.3.1 or v1.4.2

  1. The following icon on the desktop environment are double-clicked.

Double-click the following icon in the desktop environment.

Select and copy output information on the Java console, and paste it on a text editor such as WordPad.

In case of Linux(R)

  1. Click the Java Console button on the task bar in the bottom.

In case of non-displaying Java Console

After collecting this information, take the following steps to restore the setting as the Java console is not displayed:

In case of PC client with Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition v1.3.1 or v1.4.2

None.

In case of Solaris OE

  1. Exit the browser.
  2. Display the Java Plug-in control panel by executing the following command:

    # <Netscape dir>/j2pi/ControlPanel

    <Netscape dir> : Specify the Netscape installation directory.

    For Solaris 7 OE, the directory is default "/opt/NSCPcom," and for Solaris 8 OE, the directory is default "/usr/dt/appconfig/netscape."

  3. Deselect [Java consol display] on the [Java Plug-in control panel]-[Base] tab.
  4. Click <Apply>, and then close [Java Plug-in control panel].

In case of Linux(R)

None.
