Systemwalker Operation Manager Q & A Guide

2.5 Q: What Points Should I Note Regarding Client Response Performance?

Applicable versions and levels

A

If an Operation Manager client monitors an Operation Manager server where a large number of job nets and groups are registered, the client response including screen display may be delayed. In such cases you can improve the response by limiting screen display on the client and the projects targeted for operation.

To improve response, register and connect users for whom you limited screen display and projects targeted for operation, as explained below.

  1. In the Set Permissions window, register users having reference and operation rights for each project so that the settings do not overlap with the settings for other projects.

  2. Connect to the Operation Manager server as the user registered in step 1.

Up to 62 (*1) Operation Manager clients can be connected to the Operation Manager server (Jobscheduler function). However, a higher number of client connections results in deteriorated response for individual clients. As a rough guide, do not connect more than eight Operation Manager clients to a particular Operation Manager server at the same time.

*1: The maximum value may vary depending on the operating system.

On V11.0L10/11.0 or later, you can limit the maximum number of connected clients to 62. To do this, open the Define Jobscheduler Startup Parameters window and use the settings in the Use function2 tab. Refer to the following manuals for details.

Note

Some users may frequently request a refresh (by pressing the F5 key) of the client window to cope with deteriorated client response. However, this operation may hinder screen display to other users and cause a further deterioration in response. Try not to request a refresh (by pressing the F5 key) frequently even if response has deteriorated.
