Systemwalker Operation Manager Q & A Guide

1.12 Q: Migrating to an environment where Systemwalker Operation Manager is installed on a different drive [Windows Versions]

Applicable versions and levels

A

Describes how to use policy extraction/distribution to migrate policy information from the source Systemwalker Operation Manager to a Systemwalker Operation Manager environment (migration destination) installed on a different drive.

Before you perform this task, make a backup of the target environment by using the mpbko command or by starting the Operation Environment Maintenance Wizard from Operation Environment Maintenance.

To clarify the environment (source/destination) in which the operation is performed, the operation environment is represented as [Migration source] or [Migration destination] at the beginning of each step.

  1. [Migration destination]
Use the Systemwalker Operation Manager Environment Setup window to Stop the job scheduler service and the job execution control service.

  2. [Migration destination]
In Define Jobscheduler Startup Parameters window -Database sheet, define the following.

    • In the Directory input area, specify the same directory as the database storage directory in the source environment.
Note that the value before the change in the migration destination will be used in step 11 below.

    • Check the Copy current database to destination check box

  3. [Migration source]
In the Define Operating Information window - Logging sheet, check the Saved Directory definition information for the job execution history information and the operation performance information.

  4. [Migration destination]
Make sure that the source environment has the same directory as the Saved Directory you checked in step 3, and if not, create one.

  5. [Migration destination]
In the Define Operating Information window - Logging sheet, specify the same directory as in step 3 in the Saved Directory input area for job execution history information and operation performance information.

Note that the previous value defined in Saved Directory in the destination environment will be used in step 12.

  6. [Migration destination]
Use the Systemwalker Operation Manager Environment Setup window to Start the job scheduler service and the job execution control service.

  7. [Migration source]
Use the Systemwalker Operation Manager Environment Setup window to Start the job scheduler service and the job execution control service.

  8. [Migration destination]
Use the Systemwalker Operation Manager Environment Setup window to Stop the job scheduler service and the job execution control service.

  9. [Migration destination]
Use the Systemwalker Operation Manager Environment Setup window to Start the job scheduler service and the job execution control service.

    This applies the policy.

  10. [Migration destination]
Use the Systemwalker Operation Manager Environment Setup window to Stop the job scheduler service and the job execution control service.

  11. [Migration destination]
In Define Jobscheduler Startup Parameters window -Database sheet, define the following.

    • In the Directory input area, enter the previous value that you noted in step 2.

    • Check the Copy current database to destination check box.

    • Check the Delete current database check box.

  12. [Migration destination]
In the Define Operating Information window -Logging sheet, enter the original value that you made a note of in step 5 in the Saved Directory input area for the job execution history information and operation performance information.

  13. [Migration destination]
Use the Systemwalker Operation Manager Environment Setup window to Start the job scheduler service and the job execution control service.

    This reflects the changes.
