The backup/restoration unit of the AIX AdvancedCopy Manager is a physical disk (LU: Logical Unit). However, in the case of the physical disk which constitutes LVM (Logical Volume Manager), it is managed and operated according to the volume group. The disk which is managed and operated is called a transaction volume.
A transaction volume to be backed up must reside on the ETERNUS Disk storage system.

Note
Do not back up the systems disk or the disk on which AdvancedCopy Manager is installed.
The following should be noted when using a volume group as operating volume:
Do not register two or more physical disks into one volume group.
