4.4 ETERNUS AX/HX series, ETERNUS AB/HB series

This software supports fault management and linkage to the Management Software for the ETERNUS AX/HX series and the ETERNUS AB/HB series. This software decodes SNMP Traps that are sent from a device and displays them.

Point

The ETERNUS AB/HB series is monitored using the SNMPv2c protocol.

Configuration Procedure for the Device

  1. Connecting to the network

Connect the management port of all the controllers installed in the device to the network. Refer to the manuals of the device for details on how to connect to the network.

  2. SNMP Trap setting

Perform the setup of the SNMP Trap transmission destination for the device so that SNMP Traps of the device can be transmitted to the Management Server. If the Management Server is operated in a cluster configuration, set the logical IP address of the cluster as the destination.

  3. Management software linkage

Use the management software provided for device to check the detailed device status and manage the various settings of the device. The management software can be called directly from Web Console. In advance, setup the URL of the management software on Web Console.

  4. Access path setting

This software does not set the Fibre Channel Interface for the device, but performs the access path settings by using SwitchZoning and performs the SwitchZoning displaying.
When setting the Fibre Channel Interface, refer to the manuals of the device.

Configuration Procedure for This Product

  1. Registering the device

Specify the management port IP address of all the controllers installed in the device to register them. Refer to "5.2.7 Registering Manually Embedded Device" for information how to register a device.

    Point

    • If some of the installed controllers are not registered, SNMP Traps sent from the device may not be displayed. To properly monitor the state of the device, register all the controllers installed in the device.
For example, when registering a device installed with two controllers, perform a registration for each controller by specifying the IP address of the management port and the serial number of the device that acquired the license key. When registering controllers in the same device, enter the same serial number.

    • For the device name specified when registering a controller, to easily identify the controller output by an event, it is recommended that you register a name that combines the device name of the ETERNUS AX/HX series, ETERNUS AB/HB series with the controller name (for example, "HB5100_CNTLA" and "HB5100_CNTLB").

  2. Registering the license

Register the license in one of the registered controllers by entering the license key. License registration to the other controllers in the same device is not necessary.
If multiple devices are being managed, a license is required for each device.

  3. Registering the port

When using the access path setting, register the HBA port for each controller that is installed.
