8.2.3 In Case of Problem During Upgrade of Storage Cruiser's Agent (for Windows)

The system can be recovered to the same status as Upgrade Installation completed normally.

For the server on which Upgrade Installation failed, perform the following actions.

1. Resolve any problems of installation failure.

2. Uninstall the previous version.

   If the previous version number is displayed on the Program and Function screen, uninstall the previous version. If no previous version number is displayed, or even if it is displayed but its uninstallation fails, force delete Storage Cruiser's agent in the following steps:

   1. Stop Storage Cruiser's agent services

      Open Service Control Manager to stop ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser's agent services.

      If no ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser's agent service exists in Service Control Manager, execute the following command from the command prompt executed as an administrator.

      > sc stop "ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser Agent"

      Even if this command terminates with error, ignore it.

   2. Delete Storage Cruiser's agent services

      Delete Storage Cruiser's agent services.

      Execute the following command from the command prompt executed as an administrator to delete Storage Cruiser's agent services.

      > sc delete "ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser Agent"

   3. Delete registry

      Delete Storage Cruiser's agent associated registry.
      If no appropriate registry exists, this process is not necessary.

      Note

      If registry deletion fails, a critical impact may be given on the system. It is recommended that you back up the registry beforehand.

      Delete the following registries by Registry Editor:

      • For 32 bit operating system

   4. Delete Storage Cruiser's agent installed directories

      Delete by Explorer the program directory, environment configuration directory and working directory when Storage Cruiser's agent of the previous version was installed.

   5. Delete the directory created by Installer

      If the following directories created by Installer exist, delete them by Explorer:

      • For 32 bit operating system

        <Windows Install Drive>\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{A2B5B274-C29C-44C5-86A2-5CB89EA96AB9}

      • For 64 bit operating system

        <Windows Install Drive>\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information\{A2B5B274-C29C-44C5-86A2-5CB89EA96AB9}

      Point

      Installer creates a hidden directory.
      Select the "Show hidden files, folders and drives" radio button on the View tab for Folder and Search options in Explorer, and hidden directories are displayed.

   6. Delete service name

      Delete the service name.

      Delete the line when the following lines exist in the %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\services file.

      • sscruisera

3. Install Storage Cruiser's agent.

   Newly install this version of the Storage Cruiser's agent from the DVD media.

4. Restore the environment in which the previous version was used.

   Take the following procedure to restore the previous version:

   1. Log on to the target server as Administrator privileges. If already logged on as the Administrator privileges, this step is unnecessary.

   2. Insert the DVD "ETERNUS SF SC/ACM/Express Mediapack (V16.9 or higher) Agent Program and Manual" of this version into the DVD drive.
      If already inserted, this step is unnecessary.

   3. Execute the following batch file in the DVD media to restore the previous version.

      <dvdDrive>\Agent_windows\Storage_Cruiser\windows_x86\scagtpostinst.bat backupDir

      For backupDir, specify the directory in which backup data is stored with the absolute path.

      Point

      If the directory name contains any spaces, it is surrounded by double quote characters.

   4. Eject the DVD media.

This is the end of the actions in case of problem during upgrade.
Subsequently, perform the post-Upgrade Installation work. Take the appropriate actions described in "5.3.4 Tasks to Be Performed After Upgrade".
