9.3.1 Running Silent Uninstallation

The silent uninstallation procedure of ETERNUS SF Manager (for Windows) is as follows:

1. Log on to the target server as a user with administrator privileges.

2. Start a command prompt. Start a new command prompt different from the silent installation execution, and run a silent uninstallation.

3. Copy the following silent uninstallation file to any directory other than the ETERNUS SF Manager installed directory.

   programDirAtInstallation\ISSetup\esfsilentuninstall.bat

   Information

   Running an uninstallation from the program directory specified at installation tries to delete the "esfsilentuninstall_ccm.bat" file itself and fails uninstallation. For this reason, copy the file to other than the program directory specified at installation, and then run the copied file.

4. Execute the command copied at step 3 to uninstall.

   For uninstallLogFile, specify the file in which to output uninstallation log with an absolute path. It is optional to specify for uninstallLogFile.

   copyDestinationDir\esfsilentuninstall.bat [-l uninstallLogFile]

   Point

   • If nothing is specified for uninstallLogFile, an uninstall log file named "esfsilentuninstall.log" is created in the working directory specified for the environment variable TEMP.

   • If any file of the same name as the specified uninstall log file exists, it is overwritten.

   • It is required to specify an existing directory with write permission for the directory in which to store the uninstall log file. If it has no write permission, no error message is output on the screen and the process terminates with error.

   • If the path to the uninstall log file contains any spaces, it should be surrounded by double quote characters.

   • The characters " | : * ? / . < > % & ^ ; ! are not supported for path name for uninstall log file.

   Note

   • If an invalid option is specified, its corresponding error message is output in the uninstall log file and the process exits. No error message is output on the screen.

   • Do not execute multiple silent uninstall commands at the same time. If a silent uninstall starts while a silent uninstall is executing, the silent uninstall terminates abnormally without creating an uninstall log file.

   • Notes when Storage Cruiser's agent is installed in a target server

     Uninstaller suspends Storage Cruiser's agent of a target server so that no error may occur in uninstalling ETERNUS SF Manager.
     For this reason, do not perform any operations associated with the target server before uninstallation is completed.
     When the target server is also operated as the Storage Cluster Controller, ETERNUS Disk storage systems are not monitored by the Storage Cluster Controller, so that Automatic Failover of ETERNUS Disk storage systems is disabled.

5. On completion of uninstallation, a command prompt is displayed.

6. Delete the command run at step 4.
