F.1.1 About Prior Work

The prior work necessary for using this function is explained below.

When Performing Data Protection Operation

No prior work is required.

When Performing Standby Operation

In the case where the device for REC is used as a device in the standby side, introduction of NAS management is necessary as in the device in the operation side. For the prior setting and introduction procedures for NAS operation, refer to "NAS Management" in the Storage Cruiser Operation Guide or Express Operation Guide.

Note

  • If the ETERNUS DX100 S3/DX200 S3, DX500 S3/DX600 S3, whose firmware version is earlier than V10L51, is either operation side device or standby side device, or both, the logical volume number of a NAS volume to be created on a standby side device must be the same as the logical volume number of the corresponding NAS volume on an operation side device.
In this case, if a volume of the same logical volume number already exists in the standby side, after moving the volume data of the volume to another volume, delete that volume so that the logical volume number of its corresponding NAS volume in the operation side can be used.

  • The devices in the operation and standby sides must be in one-to-one relation. Use of one device in the standby side for multiple devices in the operation side is not possible.

  • If the operation side device and the standby side device are any of the following, the firmware version of both devices must be the same.

    • ETERNUS DX100 S4/S3

    • ETERNUS DX200 S4/S3

    • ETERNUS DX500 S4/S3

    • ETERNUS DX600 S4/S3

  • For the operation side device and the standby side device, if either or both are an ETERNUS DX S5 series (excluding the ETERNUS DX60 S5), refer to "Backup" in "NAS Functions" in the ETERNUS DX S5 series Hybrid Storage Systems Design Guide and confirm the notes and cautions.
