Point

About Access Status Data for Automated Storage Tiering

  • By setting the access status data synchronization function to "enable", if Automated Storage Tiering of the synchronization target Tier pool is operating, when the Automated Storage Tiering of the Tier pool is started, the access status data synchronization process that is between the Tier pools starts. The synchronization target Tier pool can be checked with the Operation History screen.

  • When Automated Storage Tiering for the Tier pools that are operating the access status data synchronization process is stopped, the access status data synchronization process is automatically stopped.

Note

  • If Execution Mode of the Tiering policy is "Auto" or "Semi-Auto", and the Automated Storage Tiering for a particular Tier pool is stopped and restarted, the collected performance data is discarded with respect to the Tier pool and new performance data starts to be collected. The evaluation period is counted from when the Automated Storage Tiering starts.

  • To start the access status data synchronization process for Automated Storage Tiering, the Tier pools that include FTVs that are defined in the TFO group must have a one-to-one relationship between the Primary Storage and the Secondary Storage of the Storage Cluster environment. If a one-to-one relationship does not exist, review the settings of the Affinity/LUN group for each storage device.

  • If the synchronization target Tier pool has been changed due to a change in the Storage Cluster settings while synchronizing the access status data, the access status data synchronization process is aborted. To restart the synchronization process, Automated Storage Tiering must be re-executed for the synchronization target Tier pool.

  • If the TFO group where FTVs in a Tier pool belong was created/recreated after starting Automated Storage Tiering, the access status data synchronization process for that Tier pool is not performed. To perform the access status data synchronization, Automated Storage Tiering for one of the synchronization target Tier pools must be restarted.
