9.14.7 Create Tier Pool

The procedure to create a Tier pool is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Storage.
    The registered ETERNUS Disk storage systems are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target ETERNUS Disk storage system.

  3. On the Category pane, click Automated Storage Tiering.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Automated Storage Tiering.

  4. On the Category pane, click Tier Pool.
    The registered Tier pools are displayed on the Main pane.

  5. On the Action pane, click Create under Tier Pool.
    The information input screen is displayed.

  6. Enter the necessary information, and then click Next.

  7. The screen to configure the Low sub-pool is displayed.
    Enter the necessary information, and then click Next.

  8. The screen to configure the Middle sub-pool is displayed.
    If "2" is selected for Number of Layers in step 6, the Middle sub-pool cannot be created. Click Next to go to next step.
    If "3" is selected for Number of Layers in step 6, enter the necessary information, and then click Next.

  9. The screen to configure the High sub-pool is displayed.
    Enter the necessary information, and then click Next.

  10. The information confirmation screen is displayed. Confirm the information, and then click Create.

Note

  • For a Tier pool for which SED disk is selected in Disk Type, its encryption status is displayed as "No".

  • When "Yes" is selected in Encryption Status, a Tier pool is encrypted by CM. Its encryption status is displayed as "Yes" or "Yes(CM)".

  • When a FTV is created in a Tier pool encrypted by CM, the encryption status of the FTV is displayed as "Yes" or "Yes(CM)" on the Volume Overview screen.

  • Depending on the device model and firmware version, SED disks are displayed as "SED-SAS", "Online SED", "Nearline SED", or "SSD SED". "SED-SAS" and "Online SED" indicate the same disk.
