1.10.3 New Functions of Storage Cruiser

1.10.3.1 Support of New Devices

The following features can be used with the ETERNUS DX100 S3/DX200 S3, DX500 S3/DX600 S3. The support level is "A".

• Fault monitoring (SNMP Trap receiving and analyzing, Polling monitoring using ping, Obtaining device status)

• Linkage through management window

• Performance management

Refer to the Event Guide for information on the event traps notified from the device.

1.10.3.2 Support of One Layer Tier Pool

An FTV created in a one layer Tier pool is equivalent to a TPV. The advantage of a one layer Tier Pool over a Thin Provisioning Pool is that the number of layers can be increased. A Thin Provisioning Pool cannot be converted to a Tier Pool.
A one layer Tier Pool does not require the ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser Optimization Option license.

1.10.3.3 NAS Management Feature

A NAS management feature will be provided to operate the ETERNUS DX100 S3/DX200 S3, DX500 S3/DX600 S3 as a NAS device.

Note

This function cannot be used for ETERNUS DX200F.

1.10.3.4 Extreme Cache Feature

The following features are provided for the ETERNUS DX500 S3/DX600 S3 Extreme Cache.

• Configuration of enabling / disabling Extreme Cache (device units, volume units)

• Capacity configuration of Extreme Cache

• Obtaining the performance Information of Extreme Cache

1.10.3.5 Reporting Feature

Information of the volume connected to servers is collected and capacity information necessary for billing can be reported.
