8.8.2 Changing sfdsklog Driver Major Number

This section explains how to change the sfdsklog driver major numbers.

When the following message is output at the time of system startup, change the sfdsklog driver major number according to this procedure.

sfdsklog: internal error, func=register_chrdev(sfdsklog) fail(-16)

For details of this message, see the error message 26001 in "C.2.5 Internal Error Messages (26000-26001)."

  1. Determine the major number of sfdsklog driver.

    Choose a 300 or higher number which is not contained in /proc/devices.

  2. Change the major number of sfdsklog driver.

    Add the major number settings of sfdsklog driver (sdxlog_major=New_Major_Number) to /etc/opt/FJSVsdx/modules/sfdsklog.conf.

    Example) When changing a major number to 300

  3. Restart the system.
