7.4.1 Settings Before Backing Up

This section explains about the settings to be done before backing up the system disk.

When the shared class or local class of GDS is used, perform the following settings regardless of whether the system disk is mirrored by GDS.

[Setting procedure]

  1. Set the configuration parameter of GDS.
    Add the setting of SDX_DB_FAIL_NUM=0 to the end of /etc/opt/FJSVsdx/sdx.cf configuration file.

    # vim /etc/opt/FJSVsdx/sdx.cf
     ...
    SDX_DB_FAIL_NUM=0    <- Add

    The reason to perform this setting is to prevent the shared/local class from closing down after restoring even though the shared/local class configuration database layout differs from backing up to restoring the system disk.

  2. When using the mirroring among servers function, restrict the automatic startup of RMS.

    2-1. Check if the automatic startup of RMS is restricted.
    If 0 is displayed, automatic startup is restricted.
    If 1 is displayed, automatic startup is not restricted.

    # hvsetenv HV_RCSTART

    2-2. When 1 is displayed in step 2-1, restrict the automatic startup of RMS.

    # hvsetenv HV_RCSTART 0
    # hvsetenv HV_RCSTART
    0
