FUJITSU Storage

3.2.2 Selecting Backup Source

AdvancedCopy Manager backs up data in units of slices. A slice that stores work data is called a transaction volume.

A transaction volume to be backed up must reside on the ETERNUS Disk storage system.

For the supported units, refer to "1.4 Managing Device on AdvancedCopy Manager".
For information on setting up a transaction volume, refer to "3.4.6 Setting Operation Type for Device".

Note

  • Do not back up the systems disk or slices on which AdvancedCopy Manager is installed.

  • Slices must be allocated for transaction volumes in the following manner:

    • Create slices so that no VTOC is created.

    • No slice area may be duplicated on the same disk.

  • For any slice that defines an entire volume, do not register it as a transaction volume.

  • PRIMECLUSTER GFS local file systems comprised of multiple slices cannot be processed.
If you backup or restore them, process the multiple slices simultaneously in the unmounted state.

  • Refer to "10.1.1 General Notes" for points to consider when deciding on a candidate volume for backup. Some points to consider include but may not be limited to:
