esfadm vvolvm backup - Execution of a virtual machine backup
SYNOPSIS
esfadm vvolvm backup -vmid vmid
COMMAND PATH
$INS_DIR\Common\bin\esfadm vvolvm backup
($INS_DIR means "Program Directory" specified at the ETERNUS SF Manager installation.)
DESCRIPTION
This command executes a virtual machine backup in cooperation with the backup policy.
When "Enable" is set in Clone Backup of the backup policy, the copy group name of the Clone backup that was created at backup time is output as a result of the command. When "Disable" is set, a hyphen (-) is output as a result of the command.
OPTIONS
Specifies the virtual machine VMID. VMID can be confirmed with the "esfadm vvolvm info" command.
EXIT STATUS
=0: Completed successfully
>0: Terminated abnormally
EXAMPLES
A virtual machine backup is executed, and the copy group name of the Clone backup created at the backup time is displayed.
> esfadm vvolvm backup -vmid xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx VM_xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx_xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
NOTES
This command executes a backup in accordance with the virtual machine backup policy. If there are any processes running for the target virtual machine, the backup is executed after waiting for the process to finish.
This command returns upon completion of a backup (logical copy).
When this command is forcibly stopped, the backup continues executing, but the processed result cannot be collected. Check the status of backup on the Job Status pane or the VVOL Backup Management screen of Web Console.
If a virtual disk other than a Virtual Volume is connected to a virtual machine, it cannot be a backup target according to the virtual disk type and setting. Refer to "About Backup Targets" in "3.3.1.1 Virtual Machine Backup" for details.
