If a failure occurs in the management partition, the GFS Shared File System within a cluster system stops. If I/O to the management partition fails, GFS may panic the node with an I/O error in order to maintain the consistency of the file system. To overcome this, it is recommended to mirror the volumes within the management partition.
Also, prior to changing the configuration of the file system, make a backup of the management partition information with sfcgetconf(8).
