The GFS Shared File System has the original cache management for meta-data. Many conventional file systems have managed meta-data in a uniform manner. However, the GFS Shared File System provides individualized management of i-node, directory block, and indirect extent management information areas on disks, taking into consideration the characteristics of the access. As a result, it improves the cache-hit ratio and reducing resources used.
