7.16.23 Add Quota Setting

The procedure to add a quota setting is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Storage.
    The registered ETERNUS Disk storage systems are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target ETERNUS Disk storage system.

  3. On the Category pane, click NAS Management.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning the NAS Management.

  4. On the Category pane, click Quota Management.
    The quota setting list is displayed on the Main pane.

  5. Perform the following procedures according to the operation purpose.

    On a per User/Group Basis

    On the Action pane, click Add under Quota Setting (User/Group).
    The Add Quota page for the user/group is displayed.

    Item Name

    Explanation

    Select NAS Volume

    This is a selection of the NAS volume in which the quota management setting is added.

    When only one NAS volume exists, it is automatically selected.

    Quota Target

    This is a user or group name targeted for quota management.

    Enter the user or group name set to the authentication server.

    The input condition is as follows:

    • 1 to 255 alphanumeric characters (excluding ? "). ("root" cannot be set.)

    • When specifying a trusted domain user/group, it is necessary to enter the name in the form of "domainName\targetName".

    Type

    This is a selection of the type of quota target.

    User: Select this when quota target is a user name.
    Group: Select this when quota target is a group name. The quota setting for a group is enabled only when accessing with NFS protocol.

    Disk Space (Warning)

    This is a warning value of disk space usage set to quota target.

    The input condition is as follows:

    • An integer from 0 to Disk Space (Limit)

    If Zero (0) is specified, a warning value is not set (no limit).
    When specifying both Disk Space (Limit) and Disk Space (Warning), set so that a value of Disk Space (Limit) is larger than a value of Disk Space (Warning).

    Disk Space (Limit)

    This is a limit value of disk space usage set to quota target.

    The input condition is as follows:

    • An integer from 0 to 128(TB)

    If Zero (0) is specified, a limit value is not set (no limit).

    File Count (Warning)

    This is a warning value of file count set to quota target.

    The input condition is as follows:

    • An integer from 0 to File Count (Limit)

    If Zero (0) is specified, a warning value is not set (no limit).
    When specifying both File Count (Limit) and File Count (Warning), set so that a value of File Count (Limit) is larger than a value of File Count (Warning).

    File Count (Limit)

    This is a limit value of file count set to quota target.

    The input condition is as follows:

    • An integer from 0 to 134,217,723

    If Zero (0) is specified, a limit value is not set (no limit).

    On a per Shared Folder Basis
    1. On the Shared Folder tab, check the target shared folder checkbox.

    2. On the Action pane, click Add under Quota Setting (Shared Folder).
      The Add Quota page for the shared folder is displayed.

      Item Name

      Explanation

      Disk Space (Warning)

      This is a warning value of disk space usage set to quota target.

      The input condition is as follows:

      • An integer from 0 to Disk Space (Limit)

      If Zero (0) is specified, a warning value is not set (no limit).
      When specifying both Disk Space (Limit) and Disk Space (Warning), set so that a value of Disk Space (Limit) is larger than a value of Disk Space (Warning).

      Disk Space (Limit)

      This is a limit value of disk space usage set to quota target.

      The input condition is as follows:

      • An integer from 0 to 128(TB)

      If Zero (0) is specified, a limit value is not set (no limit).

      File Count (Warning)

      This is a warning value of file count set to quota target.

      The input condition is as follows:

      • An integer from 0 to File Count (Limit)

      If Zero (0) is specified, a warning value is not set (no limit).
      When specifying both File Count (Limit) and File Count (Warning), set so that a value of File Count (Limit) is larger than a value of File Count (Warning).

      File Count (Limit)

      This is a limit value of file count set to quota target.

      The input condition is as follows:

      • An integer from 0 to 134,217,723

      If Zero (0) is specified, a limit value is not set (no limit).

  6. Enter the necessary information, and then click Add.

Point

  • Quota can be set for users, groups, and shared folders that are registered to the authentication server.

  • When accessing a shared folder with CIFS protocol, quotas can be set for users and shared folders.
    When accessing a shared folder with NFS protocol, quotas can be set for users, groups, and shared folders.

  • When a warning value is set, if the warning value is exceeded, an event indicating that the warning value has been exceeded is displayed on Log tab of the quota management.

  • When a limit value is set, if the limit value has been reached, it causes an error when writing to a NAS volume.
