3.10 Migration of a Virtual L-Server between Servers or Modification of Specifications Fails.

Description

When performing the following operations on a VMware virtual L-Server that is powered on, an error may occur:

Moving of an L-Server between servers (migration)
Modification of Specifications (CPU and Memory Size)

When an error occurs, the following message is displayed.

When performing operations using the [Resource] tab of the ROR console
The following messages are displayed in the event log.
- Moving of an L-Server between servers (migration)
  FJSVrcx:ERROR:67385:migrating VM guest failed. vmguest1 migrate from vmhost1 to vmhost2. detail=(vmguest1:validate migrate invalid,vmerrno=150,ip=XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX)
  The following information is displayed in the detailed message.
  [ERROR]Insufficient capacity on each physical CPU.
  [ERROR]Insufficient capacity on each physical CPU.
- Modification of specifications (memory size)
  FJSVrcx:ERROR:67392:modifying VM guest failed. detail=operation failed:customizing vm guest (memory settings)
  The following information is displayed in the detailed message.
  [ERROR]The host does not have sufficient CPU resources to satisfy the reservation.
- Modification of specifications (CPU)
  FJSVrcx:ERROR:67392:modifying VM guest failed. detail=operation failed:customizing vm guest (cpu settings)
  The following information is displayed in the detailed message.
  [ERROR]The host does not have sufficient CPU resources to satisfy the reservation.

When performing operations using the rcxadm lserver command

When the -nowait option is omitted, the following message is output.

The following causes are possible:

The CPU reservation performance configured for the virtual L-Server exceeds the one recognized by the server virtualization software.

Corrective Action

Modify the maximum CPU frequency specified for the image information of the L-Platform template so that it is less than physical CPU performance recognized by the server virtualization software.
Modify the following values specified for the L-Server template so that they are less than the physical CPU performance recognized by the server virtualization software.

CPU Performance
CPU Reservation Performance
Only specify the CPU reservation performance when the overcommit function is used in the environment.

For the maximum CPU frequency, CPU performance, and CPU reservation performance, set the CPU performance recognized by the server virtualization software in units of GHz, using the numbers with up to one decimal place.

For already created L-Servers, modify the limit values and reserved values of CPUs using the server virtualization software.
