19.1 Registration

Use the following procedure to register a resource to a resource pool:

  1. Right-click the target resource pool in the orchestration tree, and select [Register Resources] from the popup menu.
The [Register Resources] dialog is displayed.

  3. Select the resource to register from the "Resource List".

  4. Click the [OK] button.

The resources are registered in the resource pool.

Note

  • When registering resources, directories and files that are necessary for performance monitoring are created on the server where the resources are registered. Refer to "8.6.9 Advisory Notes for RHEL-KVM Usage" in the "Setup Guide CE" for details.

  • Virtual storage resources with Thin Provisioning attributes cannot be registered to storage pools for which Thin Provisioning attributes are not configured.

  • Virtual storage resources with Thick Provisioning attributes cannot be registered to storage pools for which Thin Provisioning attributes are configured.

  • Consider the following points, when registering an IPCOM VA in a network pool.

    • Converged Fabric must be registered with the manager.

    • It is necessary to register the information of links between IPCOM VA and IPCOM VX and the information of links between IPCOM VX and Converged Fabric.

For details on how to register the link information, refer to "9.4.8.1 When Creating Network Configuration Information (XML Definition)" in the "Design Guide CE".

    • When registering IPCOM VA in the network pool of a tenant, it is necessary to match the VLAN ID (which may be indicated as S-TAG) of the IPCOM VX virtual machine interface definition to which IPCOM VA belong and the VLAN ID (which may be indicated as S-TAG) for the virtual fabric used for the tenant.

    • When registering IPCOM VA in a global pool, configure "2" for the S-TAG in the IPCOM VA interface.

  • Creation of an L-Server with an image specified [OVM for SPARC]

In order to connect with an installation server, the admin LAN IP address is necessary when creating an L-Server with an image specified.
Therefore, create the network resources of the admin LAN in the pool within the user's access scope.

  • Creation of address set resources with Global IP addresses

Create the address set resources with Global IP addresses using the rcxadm addrset create command.
For details on the rcxadm addrset create command, refer to "3.1 rcxadm addrset" in the "Reference Guide (Command/XML) CE".
