This section explains how to restart an L-Server.
Use the following procedure to restart an L-Server.
Right-click the target L-Server in the orchestration tree, and select [Power]-[Reboot] from the popup menu.
The confirmation dialog is displayed.
Click the [OK] button.
The L-Server is restarted.
Use the following procedure to restart forcibly:
Right-click the target L-Server in the orchestration tree, and select [Power]-[Reboot (Forced)] from the popup menu.
The confirmation dialog is displayed.
Click the [OK] button.
The L-Server is restarted forcibly.
Point
When the L-Server is registered as a VM host, the VM guests running on the VM host will be turned off along with the L-Server.
The list of the VM guests that will be turned off is displayed in the dialog. However, if the VM guest is an L-Server which the logged in user does not have access permission for, the VM guest is not displayed in the list.
From the command-line, execute rcxadm lserver restart.
For details on the rcxadm lserver restart command, refer to "3.6 rcxadm lserver" in the "Reference Guide (Command/XML) CE".
Note
If no OS is installed on the L-Server, the L-Server may not be restarted. In that case, perform a forced restart.
[OVM for x86 2.2]
Depending on the presence or absence of the VirtualizationMethod attribute and the PV (Paravirtualized) driver of VM guests, restarting operations may cause a forced restart, and a forced restarting operation may cause a restart.
[OVM for SPARC]
When the function is not supported by OVM for SPARC, stopping and rebooting of the L-Server cannot be performed.
Depending on the statuses of virtual machines, either operate them directly, or perform a forced stop or a forced reboot.
This product carries out auto-save of the configuration information when an L-Server is restarted. When you disable the auto-save function of configuration information in this product, add a definition to the definition file which configures the execution of configuration information preservation. Refer to "8.8.1 Creating Definition Files" in the "Setup Guide CE".
