This section explains detecting changes in states of network devices which are being monitored to perform automatic network settings for them.
Network monitoring of this product involves alive monitoring, state monitoring, and SNMP trap monitoring of network devices.
For monitoring errors such as port trouble of network devices, please use network management software.
An infrastructure administrator recognizes changing state of a network device in any of the following cases.
Report of an error from another administrator or user
Detection of change in state when checking the system using the ROR console
The event logs showing a change in the statuses of ports of network devices are output.
If a port status change on a registered network device is detected, the message number 22784 will be output.
If the port status is "down" or "unknown" and that change was not caused by the infrastructure administrator, it indicates a problem with the network device. Check the network device.
Status icons of resources on the network device tree are changed to a status other than normal
Detection of changes in state by software for network management
An infrastructure administrator checks the status of the network device and takes corrective action if the problem can be solved.
If the problem cannot be solved by the infrastructure administrator, notification of the following information is sent to the network device administrator, requesting solving of the problem.
Network device name on which the change in state occurred
Network device status
Phenomenon noticed when receiving requests for confirmation from another administrator or user
