7.2.4 Cases when Guest OS Information is not Set Automatically [RHEL-KVM][Citrix Xen][OVM for x86 3.x]

In some cases the following guest OS information is not set automatically following deployment:

In such cases, the problems below occur, because the IP address and host name were already set in the server when cloning images were collected.

The following explains the conditions under which the information is not set automatically, and the operation methods to be used in such cases.

Conditions

The conditions under which the information is not set automatically depend on the server virtualization software.

Conditions

RHEL-KVM

Refer to "Table: Combinations of the Versions of VM Hosts Supporting the OS Auto-configuration Functions and the OS Versions of Virtual L-Servers" in "8.6.7 Collecting Cloning Images" in the "Setup Guide CE".

Citrix XenServer
OVM for x86 3.x

If using Linux Manager or if using Windows Manager and a cloning image where "OS setting" are disabled.

Refer to "17.5.1 Collecting and Registering" in the "User's Guide for Infrastructure Administrators (Resource Management) CE" for information on "OS setting" when collecting cloning images.

Operation Method

There are two methods of operating L-Platform:

  1. Manual configuration by the infrastructure administrator after deployment

    1. Configure the following settings, and then collect cloning images.

      • Do not set the IP Address as a fixed value.

      • Disable the problematic service in advance if using the same host name on multiple servers, such as when sharing a Windows file.

    2. The administrator (infrastructure administrator, tenant administrator, or dual-role administrator) notes in the Description column for the L-Platform template that the administrator must set the IP addresses after deployment is finished.

    3. After server deployment has finished, the infrastructure administrator must verify the IP addresses and the host name in the [L-Platforms] tab, verify the default gateway in the [Resources] tab, connect a console to the deployed server, and then configure the OS manually.

    4. Notify the user that access has been enabled.

  2. Importing to L-Platform by the infra administrator

    1. In response to a request from a user, the infrastructure administrator creates L-Server using the [Resources] tab.

    2. Import to the L-Platform management (refer to "7.2.3.2 Importing L-Servers" for details).

    3. Notify the user that access has been enabled.
