Enter the parameters to set for the OS when creating the L-Server.
For OVM for SPARC, only the following parameters are reflected.
Do not specify the value, as the value will not be set for the items for which entry is not required.
Item | Solaris | Description | |
---|---|---|---|
Necessity of Entry | Values When Omitted | ||
Host name | Possible | L-Server Name | Enter the host name or computer name. Enter a character string containing up to 21 alphanumeric characters and hyphens ("-"). If this parameter is not specified, the L-Server name is converted and set as indicated above.
|
Administrator password | Possible | - (*1, *2) | Set the administrator password for the L-Server. Enter the password using between 1 and 255 alphanumeric characters or symbols. This product uses the DES system for the cipher system of passwords. The maximum number of characters which can be enciphered by a DES system is eight. |
*1: When the value is specified in the OS property definition file, its values are configured.
*2: When the administrator password is omitted, operation differs based on the OS of the specified image.
When a Solaris 10 image is specified
The error message of message number 67390 is output and the process ends abnormally.
Do not omit the administrator password when you specify a Solaris 10 image.
When a Solaris 11 image is specified
Although creation of the L-Server ended normally, it will be in the state where log in to the OS in multiuser mode is not possible.
In order to make login possible in multiuser mode, change the administrator password using the following procedures.
On the control domain, change the value of auto-boot?, which is an environment variable of OBP, to "false".
# ldm set-variable auto-boot?=false guest domain's name <RETURN> |
Connect to the console of the guest domain and from OBP mode, start the OS in single user mode.
For the method of starting the OS in single user mode, refer to the manual of Solaris.
Log in to the OS and change the password of the root account.
For the method of changing the password, refer to the manual of Solaris.
On the control domain, change the value of auto-boot?, which is an environment variable of OBP, to "true".
# ldm set-variable auto-boot?=true guest domain's name <RETURN> |
