8.7.2 Registering Resources with Resource Orchestrator

This section explains how to register resources with Resource Orchestrator.
Use the following procedure to register resources:

Register Managed Servers (Global Zone)

Refer to "5.9 When Using Fujitsu M10/SPARC Enterprise" in the "User's Guide for Infrastructure Administrators (Resource Management) CE".

Register the Solaris Zones constructed on the guest domain of OVM for SPARC referring to "8.7.12 Managing Solaris Zones Configured on a Guest Domain of OVM for SPARC".

When Using zfs Storage Pools as Virtual Storage Resources [Solaris Zones (Solaris 11)]

Register the global zone as the storage management software.
When a global zone is registered as storage management software, zfs storage pools are registered automatically with Resource Orchestrator as virtual storage resources.

Execute the rcxadm storagemgr command to register storage management software.
For details on the rcxadm storagemgr command, refer to "5.17 rcxadm storagemgr" in the "Reference Guide (Command/XML) CE".

It is also possible to register a virtual storage resource with Resource Orchestrator without waiting for the periodical query of storage management software, by right-clicking the storage management software in the ROR console orchestration tree and then selecting [Update] in the displayed menu.

Registering Server Management Software [Solaris Zones (Solaris 10)]

When using Solaris Zones (Solaris 10), register BMC BladeLogic Server Automation as server management software. Perform the necessary preparations before registration.

For details on preparations, refer to "H.1 Coordination with BMC BladeLogic Server Automation".

For details on how to register server management software, refer to "5.12 Registering BMC BladeLogic Server Automation" in the "User's Guide for Infrastructure Administrators (Resource Management) CE".
