Cloud Services Management calculates usage charges through daily processes, based on the usage amount of the platform and the unit price configured in the menu.
The limit management function enables the setting of thresholds on monthly billing charges in order to restrict the unregulated use of services.
Limits are configured for projects. Cloud Services Management compares the configured quotas with the usage charges which are calculated daily, and sends notifications regarding exceeded thresholds and restricts resource usage.
Configuring Limits
When creating a project, consider the number or the size of the platform which can be created under the project before defining the upper limit of monthly usage charges. Configure the defined value in [Limit] in the [Project Management] window. In [Threshold], configure a threshold value to send an alert email when a usage charge is likely to exceed [Limit].
Exceeding a Threshold
In the daily processes, after usage charges are calculated, the charges are compared with [Threshold].
When the sum of usage charges for platforms and services which belong to a project exceeds the percentage specified in [Threshold], the following email is automatically sent.
The destination of this email is the email address specified in the [Project Management] window.
Subject:Warning of Exceeded Threshold for Project XXXXX Dear Project Manager of XXXXX The usage charges of your project have exceeded the configured alert notification threshold. Usage Charge [$]:275 Limit [$]:300 Threshold [%]:90 Date:2016/04/27 * This mail has been sent from a send-only mail address. Please note that if you directly reply to this mail, it will not be answered.
In "XXXXX", the corresponding project ID is configured.
Exceeding a Limit
According to the amount of usage charges which is calculated daily, operations which might further increase usage charges may be suppressed.
When, by performing the following operations, a usage charge value is likely to exceed [Limit], a warning message is displayed.
Platforms
Addition
Migration to another project
Addition of operation options
Services
Addition
Modification of instance types
Addition of data disks
Collection of snapshots
When the usage charges have already exceeded [Limit], in addition to the operation above, the following operations cannot be performed. Also, buttons such as [Add] are no longer displayed.
Starting virtual machine services
Actions when a Limit is Exceeded
Modification is reflected on the [Limit] of the project when the final approval of the modification request is granted. Therefore, even if the limit is exceeded, if additional platforms and services are necessary, take actions to increase the amount of charges for [Limit].
Restriction of operations are lifted after the monthly billing process is performed.
