7.16.20 Set/Change/Release NAS Snapshot

The procedure to set the NAS snapshot is as follows:

1. On the global navigation tab, click Storage.
   The registered ETERNUS Disk storage systems are displayed on the Main pane.

2. On the Main pane, click the target ETERNUS Disk storage system.

3. On the Category pane, click NAS Management.
   The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning the NAS Management.

4. On the Category pane, click Backup Management.
   The NAS volume list is displayed on the Main pane.

5. On the Main pane, check the target NAS volume checkbox.

6. On the Action pane, click Set under Automatic Snapshot.
   The Set Automatic Snapshot page is displayed.

   Item Name	Explanation
   Using Automatic Snapshot	This is the selection of whether to use NAS snapshot. Yes: Select this when using NAS snapshot. No: Select this when not using NAS snapshot.
   Number of Snapshot Generations	This is the number of snapshot generations to be kept. When "Yes" is selected for Using Automatic Snapshot, specification is required. The input condition is as follows: An integer from 1 to 128 The settable number of NAS snapshot generations varies with the device model and firmware version number, and with the total number of NAS snapshot generations specified for a target device. Set a value in this item for a target device so that the maximum settable number of NAS snapshot generations is not exceeded. The total number of NAS snapshot generations specified for a device means the sum of NAS snapshot generations set for all the NAS volumes in the device. The number of generations includes the number of generations taken in Automatic mode and the number of generations taken in Manual mode, as well. Refer to the NAS snapshot specification described in the ETERNUS Disk storage system manual for details.
   Schedule Setting	This is the configuration of the schedule for collecting the snapshot. When "Yes" is selected for Using Automatic Snapshot, specification is required. Cycle This is the selection of the cycle by which snapshot is collected. Daily: A snapshot is collected every day at the time selected in Hours. Weekly: A snapshot is collected every week on the selected day of the week at the time selected in Hours. On This is the selection of the day of the week on which the snapshot is collected. This selection cannot be made in cases when "Daily" has been selected in Cycle. Check the checkbox for the day of the week on which to collect the snapshot. Hours This is the selection of the time at which the snapshot is collected. Check the checkbox of the time you wish to collect a snapshot. When an interval of collecting a snapshot is selected, the selected interval time is automatically checked from the start point of zero time.
   Select RAID Group in which the NAS Snapshot is created	This is the RAID group of the destination where the NAS snapshot volume is to be created. When "Yes" is selected for Using Automatic Snapshot, specification is required. When there is only one RAID group, the RAID group is selected automatically. When the RAID group has already been set, only the set RAID group is displayed.

   Note

   When the selection for Using Automatic Snapshot has been changed from "Yes" to "No", snapshots that have already been collected are deleted. Also, the NAS snapshot volume is deleted.

   Point

   • The snapshots are collected based on the time in the ETERNUS Disk storage system.

   • When NAS snapshots are in use, a RAID group from which to create a NAS snapshot volume cannot be changed.
     To change the RAID group, change "Yes" selected for Using Automatic Snapshot to "No" and reset after having stopped the operation.

   Information

   When the selection for Using Automatic Snapshot has been changed from "No" to "Yes" or number of snapshot generations has been increased, NAS snapshot volume is automatically created. Refer to [Information] in step 6 in "7.16.1 Create Shared Folder".

7. Enter the necessary information, and then click Set.

Point

When the selection for Using Automatic Snapshot has been changed from "No" to "Yes", collection of the snapshot is automatically started.
