When integrating with ESC, it should be configured first. Register the Fibre Channel switches and storage units connected to managed servers on ESC.
Note
When integrating with ESC, do not register servers used as spare server for Resource Orchestrator on ESC.
After registration, collect WWNs of HBAs set on physical servers or WWNs of CAs set on storage units.
From the client window of ESC, collect the WWNs for HBAs contained in the registered servers.
For servers that are not registered on ESC, collect WWNs from the seals, drivers, and utilities provided with HBA cards.
Refer to the storage device manual of each storage device for details.
From the client window of ESC, collect the WWNs for HBAs contained in the registered storage.
Refer to the storage device manual of each storage device for details.
Collected WWNs are reflected in the relationship between physical servers and HBA WWNs from the perspective of the server, and in the relationship between the storage CA and WWNs from the perspective of storage devices.
System configuration requires that the relationship between HBA WWNs, storage CA WWNs, and volumes from the perspective of storage devices be defined clearly.
When using a multi-path configuration, design the values to match the order of HBAs configured as primary servers or spare servers with those of the corresponding CAs.
Information
For integration with ESC, Resource Orchestrator supports configurations where managed servers have up to eight HBA ports mounted.
[OVM for SPARC]
While in OVM for SPARC environment, please set the primary server's power source setting as follows.
XSCF physics partition operation mode
Autoboot(Guest Domain) : off
For details, refer to "SPARC M10 Systems XSCF Reference Manual".
OBP setting of all domains (control domain, guest domain, IO domain)
auto-boot? : true
For details, refer to "Oracle VM Server for SPARC Administration Guide" of Oracle Company。
For the status of the OVM for SPARC environment after switching over, refer to "Appendix A Notes on Operating ServerView Resource Orchestrator" in the "Operation Guide VE".
While OVM for SPARC environment , only LUN(/dev/dsk/cXtXdXs2) is the device which can be used in guest domain's virtual disc.
Note
While XSCF's Autoboot(Guest Domain) is on, connect with control domain's power source startup, then the guest domain's power source will be started. In OVM for SPARC's specification, power source startup order of IO domain and guest domain cannot be controlled, so when guest domain first start the power source up than IO domain, the power source startup may be failed. Startup the power source of IO domain and guest domain in order in the server switchover process of this product. For details, refer to "18.5.3 Definition File of IO domain" in the "User's Guide VE".
While XSCF's Autoboot(Guest Domain) is off, connect with control domain's power source startup, then the guest domain's power source will not be started. The power supply of each guest domain must start.
While guest domain ,IO domain's auto-boot? is false, domain can only startup the power source until OBP after server switch. At this time, please startup the power source manually after server switch.
While control domain's auto-boot? is false, control domain can only startup the power source until OBP after server switch, so server switch will fail.
in the server switchover process, set the Autoboot(Guest Domain) of physics partition operation mode into off on spare server's XSCF.
If the server switchover is abnormally ended, it is necessary to restore the circumstances by manual operation.
please record the information of the circumstances construct in order to provide against accidents. And in order to get the detail of ldm command, please refer to the "Oracle VM Server for SPARC Administration Guide" of the Oracle Company.
The port number used in the console of Guest Domain (if the regular console number is set)
The physics I/O device information assigned by Control Domain and IO Domain
please refer to the detail in the "2.5 Server Switchover and Failback Issues" in "Troubleshooting"
Prerequisites for Server Switchover
For details on prerequisites of server switchover, refer to "9.3 Server Switchover Conditions" in the "Setup Guide VE".
