2.10.2 After the Password Change Command (pwchangeo.exe) is Executed, Error Message "Failed to change the password. " Is Displayed and the Systemwalker Centric Manager Service Fails to Start Up [Windows Versions]

Points to check

Check if the environment where the error occurred matches [Environment 1] or [Environment 2], and [Conditions] in an environment where Systemwalker Operation Manager and Systemwalker Centric Manager coexist.

[Environment 1]

  1. The following product is installed, with "Server" specified as the installation type. And,

    • Windows for Itanium version Systemwalker Operation Manager V13.3.0

  2. One of the following products is installed, and "Operation Management Server", "Section Management Server" or "Job Server" is specified as the installation type.

    • Windows for Itanium version Systemwalker Centric Manager V12.0L11

    • Windows for Itanium version Systemwalker Centric Manager V13.0.0

    • Windows for Itanium version Systemwalker Centric Manager V13.1.0

[Environment 2]

  1. The following product is installed, with "Server" specified as the installation type. And,

    • Windows version Systemwalker Operation Manager V13.3.0

  2. The following product is installed, and "Operation Management Server", "Section Management Server" or "Job Server" is specified as the installation type.

    • Windows version Systemwalker Centric Manager V13.2.0A or earlier

[Conditions]

Cause

In an environment where Systemwalker Operation Manager and Systemwalker Centric Manager coexist, Systemwalker Centric Manager service failed to start due to the password for the startup account of the Systemwalker Operation Manager service having been changed, but not the password for the startup account of Systemwalker Centric Manager. The service could not be started because the password for the startup account of the Systemwalker Centric Manager service is incorrect.

In this case, the following error is recorded in the event log (system):

Description:

The XXXXX service failed to start due to the following error:

The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

XXXXX : Systemwalker Centric Manager service name.

Action method

Execute the password change command (pwchangec.exe) to change the password for the startup account of Systemwalker Centric Manager so that it is the same as that for the startup account of Systemwalker Operation Manager. The password change command (pwchangec.exe) is used to perform batch changing of passwords for the startup account used for starting each service of Systemwalker Centric Manager.

pwchangec -p <new pwd> (*1)

*1: <new pwd> must be the same password that was changed for Systemwalker Operation Manager.
