A "project" is a unit for managing a collection of job nets, classified according to their business operations. A project consists of at least one job net.
Separate access rights can be set up for each project. Projects are also a basic unit for monitoring, so administration is easier if projects are organized by business categories when projects are created.
Consider the following items for projects.
Items to be considered
Ensure that project names do not conflict with the names of other projects. Administration is easier if projects are given names that represent the group of business operations to be automated or monitored.
Note that "temp" and "core" are reserved by the Jobscheduler and cannot be used as project names.
Specify the OS user as the owner of a project. The owner has update rights for projects, and can register, change, monitor, and operate job nets and jobs within projects.
For jobs where an execution user is not specified in the job information, the owner specified here becomes the execution user.
Users and their respective access rights must be configured for a project in advance, enabling users to access projects.
The following access rights can be configured for a project.
Access rights | Description |
---|---|
Update Rights | Enables job nets and jobs in approved projects to be updated, registered, operated, or referenced |
Registration Rights | Enables job nets and jobs in approved projects to be registered or referenced |
Operation Rights | Enables job nets and jobs in approved projects to be operated or referenced |
Reference Rights | Enables job nets and jobs in approved projects to be referenced only |
Users that can access a project, and their respective access rights, at the time a project is created are given below.
Registered user | Access rights | Remarks |
---|---|---|
System administrators | Update Right | |
Project owners | Update Right | |
Operation Manager users with administrator rights | Update Right | When Extended User Management function is enabled [UNIX] |
If the above settings are not appropriate, the users and groups that will be allowed to access a project, together with their respective access rights, must be configured using the Set Permissions window.
Specify these settings as one of the following users:
System administrators (belonging to the Administrators group [Windows]/superusers [UNIX])
Operation Manager users with administrator rights [Unix]
Refer to "Access Control" in the Systemwalker Operation Manager Technical Guide for details on access control for projects. Also, refer to "Setting up Access Permissions for Projects" in the Systemwalker Operation Manager User Guide for details on how to set up access control.
