This product allows you to use Eco-mode. While checking the RAID group in use from the server, the spindle rotation of disk drive can be turned ON/OFF on a per RAID group basis and the power of the disk drive can be controlled.
There are "Eco-mode for Device" and "Eco-mode for RAID Group" in Eco-mode. "Eco-mode for Device" can be set to ON/OFF and "Eco-mode for RAID Group" can be set ON/ON(power off)/ OFF respectively.
When Eco-mode for Device is set to ON, Eco-mode for RAID Group can be ON/OFF controlled.
When Eco-mode for RAID group is set to ON and Schedule to External, the spindle rotation of disk drives making up the RAID group can be ON/OFF controlled. Also, when Eco-mode for RAID group is set to ON(power off) and Schedule to External, the power of disk drives making up the RAID group can be ON/OFF controlled. However, Eco-mode operation cannot be done toward the RAID groups listed in "Uncontrollable RAID Groups".
For the Eco-mode operation, the target device is selected with the Web Console and the operation is executed.
The executable operations are as follows:
Setting the device's Eco-mode to ON
Setting the device's Eco-mode to OFF
Setting the RAID Group's Eco-mode to ON
Setting the RAID Group's Eco-mode to ON(power off)
Setting the RAID Group's Eco-mode to OFF
Starting up the disk drive for which the RAID Group is configured
Stopping the disk drive for which the RAID Group is configured
Note
When the RAID group corresponds to either following conditions, the disk drive cannot be stopped from the Web Console. Stop the disk drive by the storageadm spindle stop command:
The volume whose volume type is WSV exists in the target RAID group.
The volumes in the target RAID group are concatenated with other RAID groups by the LUN Concatenation.
