6.15.20 Change FTV

The procedure to change the FTV configuration is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Storage.
The registered ETERNUS Disk storage systems are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target ETERNUS Disk storage system.

  3. On the Category pane, click Automated Storage Tiering.
The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Automated Storage Tiering.

  4. On the Category pane, click FTV.
The registered FTVs are displayed on the Main pane.

  5. On the Main pane, check the target FTV checkbox.
Only one FTV can be selected.

  6. On the Action pane, click Modify under FTV.
The information input screen is displayed.

  7. Refer to the following table to enter the necessary information, and then click Modify.

    Item Name

    Explanation

    FTV Name

    Specify the FTV volume name.

    Total Capacity

    Specify the FTV volume capacity.

    Caution Threshold of FTV

Specify the threshold value, as a ratio of the used capacity. A set standard of this item is as follows:

    • For ETERNUS DX100 S3/DX200 S3, DX500 S3/DX600 S3:

[Total capacity of FTV] * [Caution threshold] < [Used capacity of FTV]

Specifies a threshold (%) for the storage device to report a host sense. Specify a decimal value in the range of 1-100.

    • For ETERNUS Disk storage systems other than those listed above:

[Free capacity of FTV] * [Caution threshold] > [Free capacity of Tier pool]

Specifies a threshold (%) for Alarm Status of FTV information to be changed. Specify a decimal value in the range of 1-200.
Note that the free capacity of FTV is a value of the total capacity of FTV subtracted by usage.

If the ratio of usage reaches the caution threshold that has been set, Alarm Status below turns "Caution".

    • Alarm Status of the Volume tab screen in details of the Tier pool

    • Alarm Status of the Basic tab screen in details of FTV

    Priority FTSP

When newly assigning data, specify which sub-pool of the Tier pool to assign the data to in a prioritized manner.

    Low Quota Share

Specify the ratio (%) of the capacity of the volume to assign to the Low sub-pool upon relocation within an integer from 0-100.

    Middle Quota Share

Specify the ratio (%) of the capacity of the volume to assign to the Middle sub-pool upon relocation within an integer from 0-100.

    High Quota Share

Specify the ratio (%) of the capacity of the volume to assign to the High sub-pool upon relocation within an integer from 0-100.

    Automated QoS:Enable/Disable

Select whether to change the volume being created subject to adjustments of the Automated QoS. The default setting is "Disable".

If select "Enable", Automated QoS:Priority, Target Response Time, or Automated QoS:Tier Control can be specified.

If select "Enable" and not specify Automated QoS:Priority or Target Response Time, the device will be affected by the adjustments by the Automated QoS function of the other volumes to which those items are specified.

The value of this item is only enabled when using the Automated QoS function.

    Automated QoS:Priority

Simply by specifying "Low", "Middle", or "High" to the volume used by the user, automatic tuning will be performed in accordance with the current load.
When "Unlimited" has been selected, this will be of the topmost priority and of the volumes sharing the same resources, performance will be the highest.
When "No Set" is selected, there is no priority and therefore adjustments will be made to slow down performance in order to prevent the other volumes to which priority levels and target response times have been set from being affected.

The value of this item is only enabled when using the Automated QoS function.

    Target Response Time

As an integer from 0-10000, specify the target value (millisecond) of the response time of the volume the user will be using. When "0" has been specified, the bandwidth of the volume concerned will be unlimited.
Although a space may be entered, when a space is entered, a target response time will not be configured for that volume. Accordingly, the response time will depend on the configured values for the target response times of the other volumes, and may become faster or slower.

The target response time is specified for each volume.

Furthermore, Automated QoS:Priority cannot be specified when this item has been specified.

The value of this item is only enabled when using the Automated QoS function.

    Automated QoS:Tier Control

Select whether to perform coordination between the Automated QoS function and Automated Storage Tiering.

Simply by specifying together with Automated QoS:Priority or Target Response Time, automatic tuning of performance will be performed through utilization of the Automated QoS function and Automated Storage Tiering.

The value of this item is only enabled when using the Automated QoS function. In addition, this can only be specified when all of the following conditions have been satisfied.

    • A value other than "Unlimited" and "No Set" is specified for Automated QoS:Priority. Alternatively, a value other than "0" is specified for Target Response Time.

    • The execution mode of the Tier pool specified for Tier Pool Name is "Auto".

    • Low Quota Share and High Quota Share have been specified for two layer operation. Low Quota Share, Middle Quota Share and High Quota Share have been specified for three layer operation.
